What do YOU think a blog is?
Without wanting to sound too cheesy, I think a blog is a great way to express yourself. You can keep it as a kind of autobiographical journal, or a photo-based blog, or a comic blog or anything you like, really. It gives you a lot of freedom.
what are the main features of a blog community in your opinion?
The little sub-communities are quite interesting (unless they're maintained by nutters). Though I think best thing about a blog community is the feedback you get from fellow bloggers. They're more likely to view your work from a different angle to you, so it's interesting to hear what they have to say (unless it's just "omg yor ghey").
And .. can you tell me what keeps you there? What does being a member of a blog community mean to you? What benefits (if any) do you get through being a part of such a community?
The fact that I can be anonymous keeps me there.
I don't really take my blog seriously (it's usually stagnant for several months) so being in a blog community doesn't really mean THAT MUCH to me. I just see it as a fun thing to do now and then. Like cocaine. Just kidding... lol.
An obvious benefit is, once again, the feedback. It helps me improve and usually inspires me to do more work on it.

A blog is my place, my space where I write what I want, when I want and when I feel like it. A place where I can express myself, my opinions and people would actually read and give me their feed back and let me know if I am actually going mad.

Features? Hmm! There are no real rules or features. Just a bunch of people who share some common ideas. Perhaps not even common, so a nice heated argument that's good for the soul. Bloggers are from various walks of life, so you meet different people and your network, simply grows. Mine has.
And .. can you tell me what keeps you there? What does being a member of a blog community mean to you? What benefits (if any) do you get through being a part of such a community?
What keeps me hear is not the community per se. It's the blogging, the freedom to say what I want. If doing that makes me part of another whole bunch of people who think like me, that's just a bonus.
Benefits are meeting new people, people who have ideas, things to say and people who share your enthusiasm for whatever it is. Tangible benefits are of course networking... and maybe getting some action....... :)
Hmm.. I just troll a lot in Kottu blogs when I'm bored. I have to be online for a few hours a day to take care of my budding business on eBay. There's nothing else to do but to troll.
